A while ago, I decided it was time to get a new journal. I love writing, so I wanted something that felt special and would make me excited to use it. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, so I walked into this little stationery store downtown hoping for the best. What I found was way more than just a journal—I ended up having an awesome experience too.
As soon as I walked in, a store worker named Mai greeted me with a big smile. Instead of the usual “Let me know if you need help,” she asked, “Are you looking for something specific today?” I told her I wanted a journal but didn’t know exactly what kind. She didn’t just point to a random shelf—she actually asked me questions about how I planned to use it. Was it for writing every day, sketching, or something else? I told her it was mostly for writing, like personal thoughts and creative ideas.
Mai showed me a bunch of different journals and let me check them out. Some had leather covers, others had cool designs, and a few even had handmade paper. She handed me a few and said, “Feel the pages—they’re really smooth, great for pens!” She also let me test out some sample pages, which was super helpful.
