More than 60% of those living in Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart drank tea or coffee at a café, followed by Brisbane with 55% and Adelaide with just under 50%. Adelaide was the only city where buying instant coffee was more common than visiting a café, with nearly half of its residents purchasing instant coffee. Roughly 53% of urban dwellers in Hobart and Brisbane bought this product in the last four weeks, while the figures for Melbourne and Sydney were slightly lower, at around 47% and little above 45% respectively.

Turning to the remaining category, the proportions of people in Sydney and Melbourne who bought fresh coffee were roughly similar, at about 43% each, and in Hobart it was approximately 37%. This product was the least common in the other two cities, where it was purchased by only around 34% of the total residents.
